I should never listen to my older brother. Period.
Last year, whilst I was in US, I made it an objective to buy as many dvds I could get my hands on. So, visiting the Virgin Megastore on the Walk Of Fame was like another holiday in itself, for me. I had a blast, walking around the mega(wuh?)store and seeing all these cool things that I cant find in M'sia, but the movies were the reasons why I was there. You should've seen me, I was this asian teenager waltzing around the store with no care in the world like a Disney movie, with a stack of dvds in my hand. I was happy and content with all my purchases, solid movies.
But, there is one regret; Ferris Bueller's Day Off. When I say 'regret', I dont mean that I shouldnt have bought it, it's the fact that I didnt buy it is the problem. I had the copy in my hand, glancing through the luscious hair of 80's Broderick on the front cover, saying to myself, "Adrees, you've got to buy this.", because I've heard of the movie, and I've been trying to find it on dvd. BUT, my dear older brother tapped me on my shoulder and casually said, "Dont, man. That movie sucks ass". I was contemplating whether to listen to him, or not. The problem is, I listened to him. sigh, idiot.
Last week, I watched the movie for the first time on Astro, and fell in love again with 80's creative cinematography. And dont get me started on the brilliant idol character of Ferris Bueller, the writers created a gold mine with this character, he's just pure awesome! Matthew Broderick at his prime, not that it lasted long.
ALSO, supporting performance from Alan Ruck as Cameron, the ever-loyal best friend stole the show. I just loved his character, to bits.
