Started off the weekend with a good one,
Star Trek. It blew my expectations out of the water, Im even going as far as saying that this epic and instant-classic is far better compared to
X-Men Origins:Wolverine. There, I said it.
Seriously though, I fell for this movie as soon as I heard the infamous *beeps* made famous more then thirty years ago, during the opening credits. Also, this movie has the most emotionally intense opening sequence in any movie I've seen this year yet, and last year actually. If I wasnt too into the U.S.S Kelvin battling its guts out with the Romulan ship, I wouldve at least shed a single tear. Just one. I would watch it again, solely based on the need to see the first ten minutes of it. Thats how good the intro is.
AND, even though I havent actually exposed this to anyone, I was technically brought up with the Star Trek legacy. As much as I subconsciously tried to avoid it, my dad and his Trek-ness was an unstoppable force HAHA. Even though my time was during the reign of Patrick Stewart a.k.a Captain Jean-Luc Picard , I still cought a 'few' names of the iconic batch; James T. Kirk, Uhura, Spock, Sulu, Chekov, McCoy and even Scotty. So, watching them re-live these characters with such portrayal was awesome.
...gave me another reason to smile this weekend =]
